Malam Jabba is a Hill Station in the Hindu Kush mountain range nearly 40 km from Saidu Sharif in Swat Valley. This place is home to the only ski resort in Pakistan. The area also contains two Buddhist stupas and six monasteries that are scattered around the resort. The presence of the monuments at such a height indicates that the area has been inhabited for over 2000 years.
Two trekking trails are located near the Malam Jabba. The first passes through the Ghorband Valley and Shangla Top and starts about 18 km. The other trail passes through the Sabonev Valley and is about 17 km.
Malam Jabba is surrounded by the mighty snow peaked Karakorams, exhibiting a breath taking view to its visitors. It has a ski slope of approximately 800m with the highest point, 2804 m (9200 ft). The resort has two skiing platforms, roller/ice skating rinks and chairlift, with the best equipment and instructors. The place is not only good for adventure sports but also for sightseeing. Currently in Malam Jabba, a lift is operating, and carrying tourists halfway up the wide ski slope. The lift consisted of a cable from which a single open gondola with two benches was suspended, each carrying four people. Powered by an old car engine, the haul rope was touching the ground in the middle of the track while the chairs where loaded at the bottom.
