The Ratti Gali Lake is an alpine glacial lake (lake formed with the water of melting glacier), which is located in Neelum Valley of Kashmir, Pakistan at an altitude of 12,130 feet (3,700 m). The lake is fed by the surrounding glacier waters of Kashmir mountains. Ratti Gali Lake is so beautiful that people come and wish to live here forever. It is also called as the Dream Lake. It is like a Paradise on Earth.
The lake is one of the most incredible examples of natural beauty in Pakistan with its wide vista of the snow covered mountains and its location at the base of those mountains. To have the best experience, May to August can be the best time to visit this heavenly paradise. Sunsets ans sunrise over Ratti Gali lake are the most amazing ones. In the summer season, specially in August, the whole area around this mesmerizing lake becomes a place of lush green meadows, wild and magnificent flowers, some orchids and radiant alpine plantations while in winter this valley is covered with white snow and big chunks of Glacier floats in the dark blue magical water of Ratti Gali Lake like huge swans. It is preferable that you must take meals. Must take your Jackets and Sweaters and the most important thing is Jogger Shoes.
The lake is accessible from Dowarian by an unmetalled 19 kilometers (12 mi) road cum hiking trek through breath-taking sites. Dowarian is the base camp to this lake. Jeeps are easily available from Dowarian. From Dawarian it takes almost Two and half hour to reach base camp at Domail. From that point it’s preferable to get horses , as the tracking is too much steep. Young people can do tracking, it will take almost one hour to reach lake. All the tour is safe for families also. Take your rain coats and jackets along with you.
